The Great British Summer #3

All holidays in the UK must include a visit to a castle, it’s a rule, particularly if the weather is looking a little suspect. Here we have Restormel Castle, just outside Lostwithiel (once the capital of the county) and one of the four great castles of Cornwall. Originally built in 1100, this near 1000 year old castle was  ”a Stronghold of the Black Prince”.

The Great British Summer 2014 #1

We walked for a few miles today along the north coast of Cornwall. Most of the time it was sea and sky and rocks and hardy types, smiling in the way only the British do when on holiday and conditions are challenging. This scene, at Constantine Bay illustrates a family determined to have a view whatever the strength of the onshore wind.
